Well, I used to have an "alternatively acquired" version of TFT, patched up to date, and I thought it was really good, so I bought the battlechest today. I got rid of all remnants of the old one, and installed. But now, when I start the game up, it stays at a black screen and slows me down like its eating up power, and i have to ctrl alt del, which comes up very slowly, and get out of it.

I've manually patched, reinstalled, etc, no fix found yet.

My specs are

Windows: Windows XP5.1 (Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.11
Memory (RAM): 1023 MB
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3400+
CPU Speed: 2185.7 MHz
Sound card: Realtek AC97 Audio
Display Adapters: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 | NetMeeting driver | RDPDD Chained DD

But like I said, worked flawlessy before.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem

Built my brand new system. Installed WC3 then TFT then started TFT

Here's what happens:
- I click on warcraft icon to start

- the splash screen comes up with spinning CD symbol

- splash screen goes white and an instance of warcraft 3 the frozen throne opens but my desktop doesn't switch to it

- I try to click on the window in the task bar but nothing happens

- The only way I can get into warcraft is by hitting alt-ctrl-del a couple times

- what this does is opens up several instances of the task manager and then I"m able to click on the tab for warcraft and enter the game

- after all this everything works.

- could it be related to the dual core? seems unlikely to me though

System Intel 6400 core 2 duo
MSI 945P neo 3
PNY 7950 GT 512mb
onboard sound (realtek AC'97)

Yea , I have the exact same problem as Darkarm too. I need to click on ctrl+alt+del a few times to load the game normally , but its annoying to do it every time you launch warcraft 3...
