Hi i plugged in my dell demension 5150c into a plug socket and a small pop let off from the computer. I smelt a strange smell at the other end of the power lead (3 pin computer end) have i blown the computer the fuse, or just whats wrong, any suggestions.

Hi mickop...

Just by your description, it sounds like a blown capacitor on the motherboard. If this is the case, you'll need to replace the motherboard. You can check this by inspecting the motherboard..the capacitors will be located near the processor.
