i dunno. macs are nice the price is bad, and the user friendlyness can hoop you something fierce. but the fast that it doesn;t say microsoft anywhere, and that it's stable is awesome, my only reason for sticking with winblows is gaming. which, ironically i can't do any of because i've got something really ugly going on in my compter. i'm temped to learn linux, but yeah, compatibility is an issue(getting drivers for the drivers that drive the drivers), and again, gaming is likely an issue.

Mac mini 500$, and you get more out of it. and the games thing? that will change as soon as people start switching. Games follow users, not platforms

You don't want to play "in the future" you'll buy a computer for that "in the future", you want to game now.
Switching to linux for gaming? Enjoy cossacks and doom1. Maybe even SimCity. Possibly Pirates or Civilisation.
There aren't many games on Linux because Linux IS the game. The objective of the adventure Linux is to get it to run. The game-interface however is even more backward than "The Guild of Thieves" or other Magnetic Scrolls adventures.
I'll see when 'Lyst' comes out.
The other reason is probably because gamehouses produce for the biggest market.
Why bother port something for a bunch of people who chose to be diff-erent/icult.
And who want everything for free on top of that. They'd rather only produce for gameconsoles then.
But , you can of course always port all the open source games you can find ( Ha! Ha! ).

Suse 9.2 professional

Its a great linux os and is pretty easy to pick up and use. It has a bunch of apps to use and you can find it on a distro site for like 20 bucks. I wouldn't argue to much. It's amazing

the thing I like about Ubuntu is that I have only had to go into the root to try and rewrite a driver for my printer. other then that you don't have to go into the root.
