I own a Toshiba Satellite A105 and Im trying to create a boot disk for a "White Box" (custom) PC.
My toshiba laptop runs win xp pro.
Im using PE Builder v3.1.10a to create the boot disk.

Any way, once I try to create a boot disk, It will say 1 warning and 1 error.
The warning is somthing about creating a bootdisk from a OEM version can mean trouble which I understand,
the error says that my uxtheme.dll is missing or corrupted.

In exact words. . .
Error: SetupDecompressOrCopyFile() "C:/WINDOWS/I386/UXTHEME.DLL" to "C:/pebuilder3110a/Boot Disk XP/I386/SYSTEM32/UXTHEME.DLL" 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

So I go to the SYS32 folder and its not there, I have a NTDLL.DLL and a SMSS but no uxtheme.dll

I think I know the problem (I installed a win vista theme and I had to modify the uxtheme.dll in some way, cant remember.)heres a link to the guide I used for the transformation.
The page I used.(for vista transformation)

I think I covered everything.
If not, ask for more info.

Thanks for the help!

Not exactly sure what you are trying to do.
Is it for XP pro?

Check out this link...Boot Disks of all types

Maybe something here will work.

Okay sorry it was a little un clear.

I have a custom "white box" PC that ran XP PRO.
It had a virus and now it wont boot to the logon screen, it says that there were files missing from from the C drive.

So I wanna wipe the HD and start fresh but I have no XP Boot Disk.

I have bought a laptop running win xp pro and I want to create a bootable xp disk from it for my broken PC.
when I try to create a boot disk, it starts doing what I discribed above.

Thanks.

(maybe I should just switch to linux. :whistling: )

If you are intending to completely wipe the drive, then boot from the XP pro CD. At that point you will get options to reformat and install.
You will also need the board specific drivers and such. But you can probably deal with missing board items after install.

If you wipe it out, then you will lose all data on the drive.

Are you trying to use the XP pro OS from the laptop? to install on your "white box"?
If so, then it is highly illegal. You will need another license.

Never mind this topic can be deleted, I just put Win ME on the HD.
I know win ME is well, like, just about as good as a 95 but o well.
I just downloaded linux xp too so maybe I'll just use Linux!

thank u everyone for trying to help!
