Hi there, I have a Laptop Compaq V2030US about two years old that is acting up. The thing is that it's shuting down by itself. I hear the fan running all the time and i don't remember if it has to run all the time or once in a while cause i didn't notice this detail before. I reboot it and everything is fine until the next time it does it.

Any suggestios? i'll appreciate it. Thanks

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then sensor

Look on the right for any temperatures it gives and post those

Does it shut down and stay off, or shut down and reboot

This is most likely the reason, 60C is where most CPU's start being erratic, at 76C you could fry eggs

Temperatures:
CPU 76 °C (169 °F)
TOSHIBA MK6025GAS 43 °C (109 °F)

Compaq say this

Description
The notebook may automatically shutdown. The notebooks BIOS software may report the operating temperature to Windows, causing a thermal shutdown of the system.

They say a BIOS update may be needed

Because it is a BIOS update, I would check with them first using online chat

The link below is for information only, please do not run the update shown until you have checked with them
