i used the mem test from the live cd of ubuntu. it passed all. also benchtested it on pc wizard 2006

Are you installing with only the keyboard, mouse and monitor attached

im using the built in vga, keyboard, and mouse hook ups. i dont have sound hooked up other than system speaker. it has built in sound and it is enabled but i dont have anything plugged in

Boot the PC and keep tapping the delete key until it enters set up, look for and load BIOS defaults, press F10, press enter, type Y, press enter

ive already defaulted it all, i had already formated. im looking to clean install home. right now im running it how

If you have nothing on the drive, an option is to use a drive wiper which can cure a few things

To completely erase all data on the drive(s)
Click this to download Boot and Nuke

Use the autonuke option, which could take 8 hours or so to format a 200 GB Hard Drive, then when you run Windows set up, check it is creating a RAW1 partition on C, if the drive letter is different, restart the PC and it should default to C

all that does is format the harddrive isnt it?
the only drive is 15gig.
also everytime the setup gets to the point of needing to restart it freezes

In addition to removing personal data, DBAN can also be used to return drives to a pristine state for reuse
