is there anyway to scan .EXE files before installing them to make sure they dont have a virus or not?

i try to scan in AVIRA ANTI-VIR free version but it dosent accualy scan whats inside of it?

any ideas?

How does antivir report the scan result

as soon as i open in, it says 100% done and says no detections.

but it dosent scan any of the files inside the exe, where there might be a virus

That is as much as any of them do, and because the files are small, it would only take a split second

Do a scan by right clicking the programme files folder and you should see details

You can also install anti spyware programmes which check files in real time so you should be alerted either before installing or even before downloading a recognised file name
