Hi Please help.

Apparantly today I infected my computer with a viurs. I am not sure what the virus is but one message of many I received said I had W32.Myzor.fk@yf. My hompage changed from MSN.com to http://esafetylist.com.

I am not sure what I have for viruses or what I need to do but am hoping someone can help me straighen my computer out.

Some messages I am receiving are saying that people are stealing my personal information. Is this true?

Also there are many popups saying I need to buy their software to get rid of the viruses. I have not bought any.

There is also an icon in the bottom right hand corner of my compueter blinking SYSTEM ALERT!

PLEASE help..

Hi

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be available to you at certain points of the removal process (while in Safe Mode). Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. .

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.

Run Smitfraud Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed as follows:

Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
Click OK.

Reboot

Please Post the following logs:

I downloaded the smitfraudfix file. When clicking on the folder there are 12 files. One of the files says smitfraudfix. Do I simply click and drag it to my desktop?? After rebooting in safe mode how do I run smitfraud? I tried this once and didn't see any field called smitfraudfix.cmd.

After completing these tasks you have me reboot and post the following logs. c:\rapport.txt and a new hijackthis log. How do I do this.

Hi Truder

Lets start from the beginning

Delete any smitfraudfix folders you have on your desktop

Download the file (SmitfraudFix) to your desktop
Right click on the zipped folder
select extract all

Click next
Click next again
Click finish

You should have a new folder called SmitfraudFix (not a zipped folder)
This is the folder you will use

After completing these tasks you have me reboot and post the following logs. c:\rapport.txt and a new hijackthis log.

you will browse for the rapport.txt like this

Click Start
Double Click My computer
double click Local Disk (C:)
Double click c:\rapport.txt, it will open with some text
Click "edit" then scroll down to "select all" and click it
Click "edit" then scroll down to "copy" and click it
Click the Add reply in our thread
Right click in the open box and select "paste"

Post the hijack log the same way you posted your first one :whistling:

Go ahead and follow the directions again and if you have any questions just ask :help:

After doing what I have been told so far I don't seem to be getting any pop ups telling me i have viruses. I also no longer have the bottom right of my computer screen flashing that i have a virus alert. Below is my rapport. Please let me know if there are more steps. Thanks again

Open the Hijackthis program you downloaded earlier.
Click the "do a scan and save logfile" button
when notepad opens copy and paste the inormation into this thread

Hi Truder

Looking good, lets go to the final cleanup

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan

Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
A new window will open...click the Check Now button
Enter your Country
Enter your State/Province
Enter your e-mail address and click send
Select either Home User or Company
Click the big Scan Now button
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report along with a new hijackthis log.

I clicked the HERE to go to the Panda website. Once there, I scrolled to the bottom of the page and clicked SCAN YOU PC. A new window does open but it's the screen asking for my Country, State & e-mail address. It's almost like I skip over the new window with the check now screen. After entering my Country, State & e-mail address I don't see a big scan now button. I see a free online scan button. Is this the same thing? When I click this button I am told that the website wants to install following add on ASINST.CAB. Am I where I should be and is this ASINST.CAB ok to install.
