my comp just booted to that. its a newly installed os too, it tells me to use the repair console from the cd, but what do i type in?

When you boot from the CD dont press R at the screen to repair. Hit Enter and continue with the install and there will another screen at the bottom that shows your Drives and there is a second option to Repair. Use that one, it will do it automatically and should take care of your problem.
