Maybe it's me but does it seem like Microsoft haven't spent any money at all on hyping or advertising Vista? Do you guys think they are waiting till it's closer to the launch?

I dont remember XP adverts, windows doesn't really need it to be honest its so pervasive into everyday life, and you have the face its plastered in games and software for windows they don't need much in the way of adverts.

That does make sense but if XP is stable and there are few incentives to upgrade, I would think MS would have an incentive to "push" the new OS a little.

microsoft is barely advertising for the Zune...and it's their first product in that market....MS usually doesn't need to advertise much of anything (though they did have that big advertising campaign for office)

Microsoft does have a pretty large viral marketing campaign ongoing at http://www.vanishingpointgame.com. There's a wiki following the progress of the puzzles here: http://vanishingpointwiki.com

The clues have lead some to speculate that the grand prize may be a trip to outer space. Wait until the official retail launch Jan 30th. There will be a huge marketing blitz I'm sure. I know they're spending more than the $500 million spent to launch XP.

Sounds great to me...

Anyone hear anything about Fiji or Vienna? Are they going to be worth it or are we talking apples and oranges?
