Recently I went to burn a DVD with Nero that I had made with my video camera. I was going to create a temporary copy on the computer to burn to a DVD. However, Nero said that it there was a read error (memory issue I believe) and could not make the temporary copy. I then tried Sonic to which the DVD did not even show up in the D drive under My Computer. I did a Disk Cleanup, restarted and tried again...

This time, Sonic created the temporary copy; but during the actual burn, Sonic said that there was an error with reading the disc (scratches, etc.) and said I could try again with another disc. I became frustrated and called Dell. Once connected, I installed an update for my DVD drive as well as one with Sonic.

To no avail however, the DVD burner still seems to be sporadic. Either using Nero or Sonic, it is a surprise how far each burn will go. Sometimes stopping during the temporary copy, other times will stop in the middle of the burn, and sometimes will complete the entire process.

I have gone through about 10 DVDs during this struggle; all of which are brand new! I would appreciate any help with this issue as I am growing very frustrated.

Thank you for your time...

Thanks... but I want to resolve the potential hardware problem on the computer I was initially using. Is there perhaps a fix for this possible hardware issue (besides the updates that I've done)?

Thanks again...

I dont know of any ways to fix hardware, other than doing everything possible to test to make sure its the hardware thats the problem. Then buying a new one and testing it.

Sorry couldnt help ya more.
