For the past few days I will be in a site with a few other windows open but minimized and all of a sudden the window I am using and sometimes all of the others will just close on me. Also, some of my icons on my computer display have disappeared. I have no idea what is happening.
I recently downloaded a game from a site connected to iTunes and also Mozilla Firefox. I also updated my RealTime Player. Could this be a virus that I downloaded with them?
Please help me. Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.

Hi mrsnhsa...

This does sound like something malware can do...let's see if it is.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

I ran all the scans and did everything in the malware section as recommended. My computer is still not working properly. If I close a window by the "X" in the right hand corner then all open browser windows close. Also my desktop is still missing some icons.

Thank you in advance for your quick reply.

I went to the control panel - add/remove programs and removed them. I realize now that I should have gone back and read the first reply since it said to run Hijack this and it will remove them. Did I do something wrong by doing it my way? I don't want to run clean up until I receive a reply from you just in case.

Please bear with me, I am relatively new to having problems like this with my computer so I will probablky ask a lot of stupid question just to make sure I understand what I should and shouldn't do.
I went to run Cleanup and since it was the first time using it , it suggested that I run it in safe mode so I did. It came up with 9,656 items/bytes to delete. It said to reboot so I did but then thought I would write to you to check if I have to run it again before I install the item you mentioned.

I tried to download the filehippo/java but I am always confused when the box comes up I always run instead of save. When I did and then the next box came up with run in it and I chose that a small box came up with a red X saying
c/documents and settings\desktop\re-6-windows-i586.exe is not a valid Win 32 application. and an OK button so I clicked the ok and tried to install again this time using the save button. When I tried to run it again the same red X came up.
Also you wanted me to send a private message to you with the hijack log. I don't know how to use the private message section.

From this link

You should get a box with an x in the corner, if so, below the box is a get java link, click that

The person who has been answering most of my questions and trying to help me rushin1nd.

Why do you want to know? Is something wrong with doing it that way?

Since I don't know much about your site are there certain things that you are not supposed to send to someone's pm section?

Generally, the PM system is for exchanging every day chat, or anything which isn't relevant to a post with any of the friends you make at GeeksToGo

Specifically, you should only post HJT Logs in the Malware Forum because they are all dealt with by people who have proven their ability to competently deal with everything which they contain

http://www.geekstogo...o_Here-f37.html

On rare occasions a member of staff may ask you to PM them particular system reports as they may include personal information, an example would be a winaudit report

Please follow the procedures outlined here: Malware Removal Guide

You will need a PC which can connect to the internet

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, please ask for advice in the Malware Forum
