Converting a photo to B&W

I converted a photo to b&w using microsoft photo manager, they way I did it was with the saturation button. Silly me saved the photo. When I print it it is a yellow/pinky colour definatley not black and white. I'm not sure if it is the printer setup or the way I changed the colour can anyone help me.

Try irfanview with the plug ins, avoid the toolbar during the install

Open the image, click image, convert to greyscale, click file, save as
