Compaq 5000 desktop restore cd's

When I restore my computer back to the orginal factory shipped, I don't have any preinstalled software other than the Compaq freebies,aol etc. I contacted compaq support and the only thing one of the persons would tell me is, I had a software problem.
His english was so broken I could only make out this comment. He told me while the red prompt QUICKRESTORE is flashing, click the NUM LOCK. When the QUICKRESTORE quits flashing, unlock the NUM LOCK plus some other instructions I could not make out. I asked him if he would please E-Mail what he was instructing me to do and he said to contact Compaq.com and they would help me.
I could not get through to E-MAIL support because the E-Mail link for support could not be found.
I'm sure someone out there has been given the same instructions the support tried to give (wished I could have understood him) me. If you could could advise other than going through Compaq I'd appreciate it. Thank You, ol5
