Ok...the exe file association is bad.

Go to the Run box again, type regedt32.exe and click "Ok". Does the advanced registry editor open?

The board is a bit glitchy this afternoon.

Right click on My Computer and choose "Explore". What happens? We need to get to a registry editor one way or another. :whistling:

Navigate to C:Windows\system32 and double click on the regedt32 icon...does this open Registry Editor?

Yup...

But we need to get the machine working right so you can clean it up.

Try C:WINDOWS and double click the regedit.exe icon. Does this one open?

Do you have XP Home installed on the laptop?

How long has this problem been going on? I'm wondering if we can run a System Restore and get it working long enough to fix it.
