i was just hoping to get some opinions of which CPU is better. the sempron overclocked to 2.5ghz comes close to the athlon 64 3500. and it beats the athlon 64 3000. but i couldn't find any benchmarks of the a64 3000 overclocked. So really the issue is will the sempron 2800 overclocked be good for gaming. the sempron is way cheaper then most A64 and beats or ties most when overclocked. I am just looking for others opinions on the cpu.

All a Sempron is is a cut-down Athlon. They're the Intel equivalent of a Celeron, but a lot better performance-wise.

Semprons are primarily designed for uses other than gaming, they will work in gaming machines but this isn't their target audience. If your target is gaming, then the 3500 is better, but if you don't want to game, the Sempron will be better (and cheaper).
