Hello

O heres the deal. I jsut got my new Duo core 6400 CPU today And I install it and everything but when I go to turn on the computer it turns on the graphics card fans goes off but the monitor is blank. I put in the older CPU I have before and it works perfectly!I'm totally lost here any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure that your motherboard is compatible with the processor? what are the specs for your motherboard (make and model) same for the processor (as you didn't really give much info on it that made sense)

I need to know fast because I only have 7 days to return this or im stuck with it. I want to put it in I guess it's the mother board.
What would be a compatiple mother board for the E6400 Core 2 duo?

on a prelliminary search i've found that Dell does have a newer bios version than the one you currently have ( Here ) that is supposed to add CPU support for newer CPU's and might make the dual core function....but i've also seen references (having trouble finding many) that suggest that the motherboard you have doesn't support the proper voltage...but these sources that i'm finding are actually pointing more at the model number of their computer (Dimension 5150/E510 is this the same as yours?) and not neccessarily your SPECIFIC board http://www.dellcommu...s...p;cs=&s=gen nothing conclusive

It looks as if these are the specs for your system and your mobo only supports through the Pentium D lineup:

You an try the bios upgrade, but I seriously doubt if it added C2D support.
