Having trouble re-installing Windows XP:

After hitting F8 at the license agreement page, I am given a blue screen saying:

The following list shows the existing partitions and
unpartitioned space on this computer.

Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to select an item on the list.

To set up Windows XP on the selected item, press ENTER.
To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C.
To delete the selected partition, press D.

694098 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]
{highlighted} Unpartitioned Space 694097 MB

OK, pressing ENTER does nothing. Pressing C brings me to another blue screen with:
You asked setup to create a new partition on
694098 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 at atapi [MBR}

To create the new partition, enter the size below and
press ENTER.
To go back to the previous screen without creating
the partition, press ESC.

The iminimum size for the new partition is 8 megabytes <MB>
The maximum size for the new partition is 690490 megabytes <MB>.
Create partition of size <in MB> {highlighted} 694090
Now, I can backspace the highlighted area containing '694090, re-enter 694090 and press ENTER.

This takes me back to the previous screen which is exactly as it was before. When i press ENTER, same thing...nothing.

What is the deal with this do-loop?
If I can ever get it to create a new partition, how big shopuld I partition?

I should note that I just recently replaced the CPU heat sink apparatus. The first time I started the setup program, I got a blue screen that said the computer did not detect a hard drive! I took the panel off and everything was plugged in OK. I unplugged everything and re-plugged to the hard drive and then ran into the above described problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
