welcome to geeks to go
I have heared this alot from users running Me try this run scan disk fix any problems it finds if it does not find any then most likely you have a virus this is from the windows Me site
When you attempt to run Disk Defragmenter in Windows, your computer may stop responding (hang). This issue may not be resolved even after you run Scandisk from within Windows or from an MS-DOS prompt.
This behavior can occur if your computer has been infected with one or more viruses, such as the w32.funlove.4099 or the vbs.network.b virus.
Microsoft does not provide software that can detect or remove computer viruses.

you can run a free online virus scan form this post click here
