"DirectCD" is a component of an older version of Roxio Easy CD Creator which allows you to write files directly to a CD by simply dragging the files on to the CD-burner's drive-letter in My Computer (it's now called Drag-To-Disc in later versions). It's not a very reliable method and few people use it.

Someone must have installed it because it's not included with Windows. When Easy CD Creator was uninstalled it's left some bits behind on your PC, and the DirectCD driver is one of those bits.

The driver is supposed to load every time Windows starts, so you need to remove that entry from your startup items. The easiest way is to download 'Startup Control Panel' from here:
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

When you have it running, it will list ALL your startup items wherever they are called from, including those in the Windows Registry. Click each tab until you find an entry for DirectCD. Right-click the entry and choose 'Delete'. It's possible there might be more than one entry for DirectCD under one of the other tabs, so have a good look and be sure to delete all relating to DirectCD.

hi,

download ccleaner here - http://www.ccleaner.com/ then run cleaner, it also has a tools tab that brings up a list of start entries .
reboot. hope this helps ?

it may, or not be in the start list, worth a try, if that fails it will do a nice clean off your pc.

cheers...xxx1

hi,

have you tried to search your computer.

1 - click on start.
2 - click search.
3 - in the left pane click on all files and folders.
4 - in the search pane type the name ( _____ ) of the folder or whatever you need to find.
5 - press the search button

do you also use ccleaner cleaner to (scan for issues) ...... if you do, make sure too back up so that if you delete anything and have problems they can be restored.

cheers...xxx1

lets see if we can find this icon

its not spyware or malware
its very safe
if you just wanted it not to show
right click on task bar
properties
task bar
customize
find icon
click drop menu
select always hide
click ok

=============================================

to dig further start
my computer open cdrive
"C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 6\AudioCentral\RxMon.exe"

or try this command

Located: HK_LM:Run, RoxioAudioCentral
command: "C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 6\AudioCentral\RxMon.exe"
file: C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 6\AudioCentral\RxMon.exe
size: 319488
MD5: b96cb1da50f3c1d37e08e756264597b6

to get to command go to all programs
accessories
click on command prompt

this is the process for roxio ... RxMon.exe

you might even be able to disable it here

go to control panel
administration tools
services
scrool down slowly look for
RoxioAudioCentral or
Roxio\Easy CD Creator 6\
click on it then on the
left click stop services

Good luck
