Hi, I just bought my new laptop and was planning to turn it into a Windows Vista soon as well but cant seem to figure out if I should turn my fat32 drive into ntfs. Also for some reason, I heard that it is really hard to get rid of malware if kept at fat32, is that true? Anyways my new laptop had a little program on the desktop that was called ntfs converter and looks like this

i was wondering if it is ok for me to keep stuff at fat32 and if it is better to turn it into NTFS, how would i convert it into that? Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Go with NTFS if you can, it is easy to change over to NTFS but not back to FAT32. I never heard about viruses being hard to remove on FAT32, but I not an expert on that, I can ask one of our experts for you if you like.

Ok if it changes my D drive, would my C drive be left as fat32. Because I have 2 drives and my C drive is called Local disk, and my D was a add on called DATA. So basiclaly i think i am still confused about how to change it that all. :/

That explains how to do it in detail, if you get stuck I can help you. It you change D: that will not affect C:, they can both be different file system with out any problems at all. At times I have has a mix of FAT FAT32 and NTFS.

Ok thanks alot i was able to ocnver it to NTFS on the D drive, so what do you think ..should i leave my C:/ as Fat32 or change that as well to NTFS..I dont think i would ever need the fat32 system for anything below xp that y.

Also, I was wondering how come ever since i changed it to NTFS on my D:/ drive my cpu usage has skyrocketed to about 48% when before it was about lower than 17%??

You may as well change C:\ to NTFS, but before you do...

17% is way WAY WAY WAY to high, I won't even say what 48% is!

When you post in the malware forum, link to this thread, to give a bit of background info to who ever helps you.

EDIT: my CPU usage droped to 0% after a few seconds when I checked it. I got about 6 programs open.
