Hello....

I am working on a PC (Dell, P-4 1.6GHz, 256MG RAM, 40GB HD, WinXP Home SP2). Currently, the owner cannot open:
Control Panel
My Documents
My Pictures
My Music
ETC....basically anything on the right hand side of the pane when you click on START. The application appears to be starting (hourglass appears, hard drive works) but after a minute or so the desktop is frozen. Stopping and restarting the explorer.exe from task manager gets the desktop back to being functional, but again, it doesn't cure the problem.

I have run AdAware, CWShredder, SpyBot, SpwSweeper, all full scans, all updated before running and all run from Safe Mode. Cleaned out a lot of crap.
Did not fix the underlying problem.

If I click on START - RUN - then type in "control appwiz.cpl" (for instance), the add/remove software panel will come up and work fine. Any other cpl file will work fine as well, as long as I run it from the 'run' button. Also, everything works fine as administrator in safe mode (but then it should, given that the problem has not been loaded).

Any help you could provide would probably put you in my will! :-)
