No your 6600 is NOT DX10 compatable only the Nvidea 8800 series are DX 10 compatable

the DX 10 has to be built in to the card you just cant update it sorry to say and also the 6600 is not a very strong card and probably wouldnt be teh best for gaming it is a low end card these days and probably wont cut it with high resource games

how much are you paying in AU???

im from oz to and im sure that you could build yourself a way better system for heaps cheaper

Like troppo said the 6600 isnt a very good card. I had the ATI X700 which is the model equivalent to the 6600 and it was rubbish.

If i was you i would build a PC as you can buy better parts and excatly what you want. Ready built PCs are made as cheaply as possible e.g. Cheapo RAM, Less case cooling etc. and im not sure about Intel but with AMD the cool and quiet is set on all the time on some of the ready built pcs which would really annoy me.

DirectX 10 is going to be lanched with Windows Vista which is released on the 30th on january. The "games for windows" games are designed with DirectX 10 in mind so you are better off waiting a bit longer till Vista is released.

What game is that you are wanting to run?

DX 10 video cards have already been released but the newest games havent had DX10 built into them nor is vista released so to run a DX10 game you need vista with a DX10 compatable grahics card and the game has to be built for DX10 aswell

that system would be able to run that game but as rumble and i have said its much better to build your own the upgradeability is much much better

and i really think you are being ripped of ill put together a list of parts worth 2300 and it will be much better than that already pre-built machine

what do you think of that system?

its far better than that pre-built one
1. better CPU with larger cache and faster speed
2. better case with better cooling and power supply
3.Btter more reliable faster RAM
4.larger cache size faster harddrive
5. way better performing more reliable motherboard
6.Upgraded CPU cooler which will keep the system more reliable and quieter
7. better LCD screen which is wide screen
8. the grahics card will [bleep] over the 6600
i have not incuded a tv tuner card but one could be added at a latter date with ease

and u can get windows media centre addition for about $180 so in total your system would be around
$ 2,450

and this system will be 100% DX 10 and vista compatable except for teh video card which an be upgraded later so if you want you can downgrade teh video card to somehting that will just get you through till DX10 cards are cheaper in price so that would knock of about $200

but the system is way better and im sure many people would agree and sure if thats a little to expensive you can downgrade the motherboard because thats an expensive one and you could revert back to the stock intel cooler if you were not thinking of overclocking at all which would cut another $50 off the price

no i highly doubt that pre built computers will include DX 10 cards because DX10 grahics cards at the moment cost
about $1200 for the ASUS EN8800GTX

or

about $800 for the GTS model

computer manafacturers are to slow to keep up with the technology and charge you an arm and a leg for outdated and slow parts

what do you think of the system i put togther for you???

buy the time DX10 games are iin the main stream companies like ATI and Nvidea will release more mid range low range cards and DX 10 will be affordable

but by teh time that happens you will not see DX 10 cards in prebuilt gaming machines

if your heart is set on that system then go ahead with it but its your decision and i have presented many options but its down to you but you can get a better system for that price and you are wasting your money
