1. Go to Start, Settings, Control panel, Add/remove and uninstall Viewpoint Manager

2. Then open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

Thanks Newark,

I realize I should have given more info, eg: I have run noadware, spybot and mas.

I followed your instructions and the pop up adds have stopped. I had mixed results deleting files after reboot:

c:\Program Files\2brcw12m.exe - deleted per instruction

c:\windows\rqvgf.exe - search of "My Computer" found it only at c:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\nCase1.zip

c:\windows\system32\mnpail.exe - search of "My Computer" found it only at c:\windows\prefetch\MNPAIL.EXE-344D0FCB.pf. In the prefetch folder I also saw MEDIAACCESS.EXE-28CE9CCF.pf and MEDIAACCK.EXE-09A6D792.pf, these programs were taken care of by my early attempts at cleaning out malware. Should I delete them from the prefetch folder?

1. You can delete the files.

c:\windows\prefetch\MEDIAACCESS.EXE-28CE9CCF.pf
c:\windows\prefetch\MEDIAACCK.EXE-09A6D792.pf

These are just files that Spybot backed up when it deleted them you can delete them.

c:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\nCase1.zip
c:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\nCase5.zip

Set you PC to show all files go here for instructions. http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html and see if you can find the file if found delete it.

2. Open Hijackthis again and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

Newark,

I set the PC per instruction and could not find - c:\windows\system32\elitekjp32.exe

Ran Hijackthis and fixed - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnpail.exe

Upon reboot I could not find - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnpail.exe

A friend was here and found mnpail.exe in startup. Took it off the startup menu and ran the hijack log below.

I think we have done it but am reluctant to brag.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

To protect yourself further:

IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.
