i want to connect a canon a530 camer and mem cards to my persario 2700t machine whhich only has usb1 support. Is this possible?

YES...USB is backward compatible which means that a USB2 device can be pluged into a USB1 port (and a USB1 device can be plugged into a USB2 port)...the only thing is that you'll get a message telling you that the device can preform better if plugged into a USB2 port...and the device will run at USB1 instead of USB2 so transfers will be slower
