Problems installing drivers/chipset

My usb ports arent working and i think its becasue of a bad driver/chipset. So everytime i go and try to install one, the installer quits after its 20%installed. It just goes away and thats that. What is happening and what can i do to fix this

Are you using windows xp? Do you see red spots in the device manager? Where did you get the drivers from? Try downloading the latest drivers from the Dell's website...

I am using XP w/sp2 and i do not see any red dots. I tried using the drivers from asus and intel. BTW i have an asus p4p800 se.
