Cannot connect to internet

After uninstalling AVG and downloading and installing McAfee, I can't get online on my desktop. Maybe I could in safe mode? Can you guys help? Mcafee ran a scan and found 257 items, I think identified as cookies, deleted (I assume) them, and then offered a cleanup thing which I ran. After that I couldn't connect. Thanks.
