Help with Windows Freezing at XP Logo

Hello I've had my computer for almost 6 months, I've been getting pass this problem by just turning my computer on and off till it gets pass the logo screen. I would accept any help, thank you!


here are my specs and I don't have pirated version of windows xp.

From what I read previously that my videocard driver might be causing the problem. My bios has been flashed to most recent bios from msi.

MSI K8N NEO4-F nForce4 Athlon 64
eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GT PCI Express 256MB DDR3
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processor (Venice)
Liteon SOHW-1693S 16X DVD Dual Drive Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 80GB Serial ATA 7200RPM
G.Skill 2x1GB Value Ram PC3200 DDR400

Hi there,

Do you have any removable hardware connected to your computer? Eg. A USB drive? or any CDs or floopys in your computer? If so try removing them and then restart your pc.

I only have the USB keyboard, ethernet, and usb mouse and usb soundcard plugged in! thank you so much for your input!

Sorry for the long delay.

Try removing the USB devices as they are probably causing the freeze.

(S)he has already said that there is no USB Devices attached, so thats been ruled out.

Are you able to turn the PC on now? or is it still hanging at the XP Logo?

Those can cause problems with hangs cause of corrupted drivers so they did not.

Its working now because I reinstalled the OS again... So far so good for 24 hours. I am not sure it might be the USB wireless keyboard.

Try using a PS/2 keyboard and mouse and unplug the USB soundcard.
