Can't install scanner

Hi, i've been trying to install a scanner. It didn't come with the driver disk so I got the driver from the maker's website. I installed them and plugged the scanner in, new hardware wizard comes up and I point it in the direction of the folder where the scanner drivers are but it says it cannot install it. The scanner is a packard bell diamond 1200 plus. Thanks for any help.
