We want to be able to:
-surf the web very quickly
-check email quickly
-photo processing (possibly creating slideshows)
-design and create websites

And possibly if it doesn't cost too much extra:
-use it to show DVDs/television/play music at a high
quality

2. How much RAM do we need? Some people say a minimum
of 1024MB and a maximum of 2048MB, and to make sure we
get the RAM in a I Gig chip.

Hi. Yes, I agree with at least one gig. I have two now, and I'm loving it, but then again, the processor makes a more noticeable difference. I have Intel (not by choice) so my friend can beat my loading times, even though he has one gig of RAM. It's becuase he has an AMD processor. The more clocks per second adds up later. Do you plan on upgrading to Windows Vista in the future? Especially for Vista, not to mention all the new applications which are created, two gigs will be nice to have.
