While downloading the program from the symantec website I got the following message:

The SymantecTM AutoFix Tool encountered a problem
The SymantecTM AutoFix Tool cannot test your computer unless your computer has:

Internet Explorer Version 5.5 or higher
Security settings which allow ActiveX controls and JavaScript
Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP operating system
250 MHz processor or higher
32 MB of memory or higher

I'm working on a new HP laptop-which settings in internet options/security/custom level must I change to be able to download it.

Like I said in a previous post-cavemen had a better pc knowledge than me so the help is really appreciated!

Hi
Internet explorer is version 6.
Not too sure bout norton but it was on the laptopn when it was bought new 3months ago. Did not change any settings-use laptop mostly for work and also for music and music videos(this I get from another pc) I started having a problem on the pc I use to download stuff from the internet. Kept getting message - The instruction at''0x69742074'' referenced memory at ''0x69742074'' Thememory could not be written.
Posted a thread on this earlier today but have not yet had a reply. Could the data transfer between the 2 pc's have caused the problem. And how do I get rid of the ''...could not be written'' error message?
Thanx again for the help.
