Yeah its been in my usual shop for over a week now. Retail isn't out but you can get OEM no problem.

Its not about the size of it for site load its for 56k uses makes page loads for them too long.

I've heard a rumor that you can only use the OEM version once. After the original install if you were to try it again it would not allow you to activate it. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Technically, an OEM is licensed to the machine. It can not be transferred to another system. A retail box version can transferred between as many systems as you want (only one system at a time of course).

What does this mean to you? Well, it appears that OEM systems will only be allowed one major upgrade (hard drive, motherboard), retail will be allowed unlimited upgrades. How strictly Microsoft will enforce it remains to be seen. If you're someone who upgrades your system often, it seems you have no choice but to buy a retail version.

I don't see how they will hold to that. I repair systems all the stime with Windows OEM software, and 9 times out of ten it requires a full reinstall of the OS which almost always requires a reactivation of the OS.

I'm 100% positive that this will occure with Vista as much as it has happend with XP. Microsoft will be forced to go back to the XP OEM standards within months I think.
