Medieval II Total War...wont start

Someone help...when i click on my short cut it tell me to insert the correct cd and restart...but the correct cd is already in! I just installed this game and i cant even play it now. And when i try to launch right from the cd, i get the error message demoshield error problem displaying/playing app and give me the same error message immediately after telling me to insert the correct cdrom! someon please help me!
