Hi!

I think my computer got infected by some virus . It is possible that both of them or at least one of them was from my infected usb device. I can't open the usb drive and if I right click the drive for the device in My Computer the Open and Explore words are replaced with ????. I accidentally double clicked the device and it ran Autoplay and then my computer had the busy icon always. But I did something to mitigate it. Unfortunately, I forgot what I did. I was more concerned about using my computer because I had a lot of deadlines to meet than worry about the infection back then. After that the only problem that I had was that the My Documents folder keeps on popping every time I turned the computer on. From there I knew that I didn't get rid of the virus.

I don't want to reformat my computer right now because I have a lot of data. Also, please help me to retrieve the data in the usb or get rid of the virus in my usb without having to reformat it. Any help is very much appreciated.

Oh, additional info is that I've scanned both my computer and my usb device with avg anti-spyware and avast in safe mode. They supposedly kept the virus quarantined but I still encounter the same issues that I've described earlier. I've found the name of the virus from avg anti-spyware. And I've often used atf-cleaner. I also have spybot search & destroy and spywareblaster. I also tried to look for some nasty traces of the virus from the processes in the analysis tab of avg anti-spyware and I am very suspicious of "wsctf.exe" in C:\WINDOWS\system32\ and "EXPLORER.EXE" in C:\WINDOWS\. I tried to get rid of "wsctf.exe" but it keeps coming back. And I can't find "wsctf.exe" in the path indicated by avg eventhough I've already configured my system to show hidden files. I've also tried removing it in the registry key and in the startup programs but to no avail.

From investigating on "wsctf.exe" and "EXPLORER.exe" I've encountered this page but there was no reply in the forum if the user successfully removed the virus so I'm not sure if this would be effective. Also I'm not sure if this would be applicable to my problem since the person who helped there still asked for the user to scan her computer using tools other than hijackthis. I've tried to fix the virus by myself but now I am surrendering and hoping that others will be able to help me.
