I have created a vpn using a linksys rv042 router and quickvpn client software.

All client systems are Wins XP Sp2, two are Pro and one is Home. The "server" is

an XP Pro SP2 workstation. The vpn clients connect fine. I am able to map

network drives and also transfer files as large as 60 GB with no errors. When I

try to remotely run an application, two of the three client machine time out with

" Windows Delayed Write Failure". I have searched everywhere on the web and can

find many references to the error but most say it is fixed in SP2. I have found

one reference that suggests changing the number of system pages in the registry.

I tried that with no effect. The other relates the issue to smb (validated in the

event log error) and suggests the problem is related to "opportunistic or

optmistic file locks and using a read handle in error to write to the file. It

suggests disablng this file locking mode. So far I have resisted this drastic

solution. Also, so far, I do not see any difference in the configuration of the

system that works vs. the ones that don't. Has anyone ever seen this?

Here is the event log record:

{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device\LanmanRedirector. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas>?

Thanks
