I've built an ASP.NET website that runs on WinXP Pro IIS at http://localhost/mysite. Now I want to make it available for www users (on the Internet) to access it.
I've spent the whole afternoon searching for how to do this. But I still can't figure out how to make it work.
My LAN is using a D-Link DSL-G604T Wireless ADSL Router. I connect to my residential ADSL via PPPoE. When I visit http://whatismyipaddress.com/, I see the following settings:
Proxy Server Detected!
Proxy Server IP address: 165.21.154.55
Proxy Server Details: bbcache-69.myisp.com
Proxy Reports IP as: 121.7.11.215, 165.21.144.129
(Unable to confirm.)
These are the settings when I do Start-->Run-->cmd-->ipconfig:
IP address: 192.168.1.4
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
When I go to http://121.7.11.215, I get redirected to my router configuration page. But if I go to http://121.7.11.215/mysite, I get a 404 not found error.
SO I configured my router to do Port Forwarding as described here.
Now when I go back to http://121.7.11.215/mysite, I still get a 404 not found error!
What exactly am I doing wrong?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
