Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter

Run HijackThis
Save the log and reboot to Normal Mode

Go to Try F-Secure BlackLight
Choose I ACCEPT then click Download Blacklight Beta graphical user interface version to download Blacklight to your Desktop
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement
Click Scan then click Next
You'll see a list of all items found
Do Not choose the rename option yet!
There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and Paste the contents of the fsbl.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log and the HijackThis log here

Run Kaspersky WebScanner
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner
NOTE For Internet Explorer 7 Users : If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading t he latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK

Now under select a target to scan:
Select My Computer

Then the program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.

Reboot

Post a fresh HijackThis Log and the Kaspersky Virus Scan Log here
(You may need to use several replies as the logs may be cut off)

I can't instal Kaspersky because I have IE Fix I was told a while ago to install that on my computer. How can I change the securtiy level on it so I can download Kaspersky or if I uninstall it will it do any damage to my computer?

Lets try this : (If Kaspersky won't run)
Run Panda's ActiveScan and perform a full system scan.
Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
NOTE: Make sure you disable your popup blocker, or the window will not open
Enter your Country
Enter your State/Province
Enter your e-mail address and click send
Select either Home User or Company
Click the big Scan Now button
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan Note: This will take a couple minutes
Click on Local Disks to start the scan
Post Panda scan results in your next reply

Everytime I try to run the Panda Active Scan I get up to the point where I click on Local disk. Everytime I do this it tells me there is an error on the page and nothing happens. Should I just keep tryin or is tere something else I can do?

Might be a setting in IE7 !

You have the Panda suite, run the Spyware Scan and post the log !

C:\Program Files\WinBudget\bin\matrix.dll

We have reason to believe it may not be what it pretends to be, so we'd like to make sure it indeed belongs on your computer!

There's no need to register. Just start a new topic, titled "File for TonyKlein".

In the topic, simply refer to this GtG forum thread, and use the Attachment box to upload the file.

In fact there's not even a need to actually browse to the file: just copy the full path to the file, in this case:

C:\Program Files\WinBudget\bin\matrix.dll

... and paste it in in the attachment box, then press the 'Post' button. The file will be found and uploaded.

NOTE: You will not see the files that have been uploaded (including the ones you upload yourself) as they only show to the authorised users who can download them


After that I'll be happy to leave you in Linkmaster's most capable hands!

I received a copy of the file from another source, and it is a search/keyword hijacker for sure

Interestingly, the the legitimate "Budget For Windows" application installs a dll of the same name, and it even does so in the exact same directory as well, but it is a totally different file, and not implemented as a BHO either...

Feel free to nuke it and its directory.
