Hi, I'm having a problem with a Gateway MX6453 laptop. When running any kind of application the screen gets light and dim and then light again constantly as long as I run the application. Also when I turn off or restart the computer, Windows reboots with the original factory settings. Any wallpaper or anything else I change reverts back. I've tried checking the disc for errors, but when I restart it just loads XP again with factory settings. Could this be virus?

if you are still having issues and suspect that it is malware related I would start with our malware forum and see if they can make sure you don't have any malware installed.
