Do you have a password for your Windows account? That would be a first step toward securing your computer.

hi,
if your logged in as an administrator and they are not, you could give your friends a limited account, if thats what you want.
cheers...xxx1

yes i do, but i am always signed onto the internet, for work stuff and communication. so when friends are over and ask to check email or something they do but then they open up files and try to email themselves my music and they accidently delete [bleep]. and its aggrivating. so i want to put passwords on my programs.

Go here and download "Encrypt on Click" (freeware):
http://www.2brightsp...eeware-hub.html
To add Encrypt on Click to the right click context menu:
http://www.2brightsp...pic.php?t=2459
You can encrypt and decrypt with a click of the mouse. Can encrypt a folder or just the .exe.

just another idea but if you don't want to type in a password each time you can always hide the folder
to make an invisible folder(no text, no icon)
- make a folder on your screen,
(don't care about the name)
- right hand click and choose: properties
- click tab: customise
- click: change icon
(change icon for new folder folder appears)
- look for the padlock icon
- click on the blanc space right of the padlock icon
- click: ok
- click: apply
(folder is invisible but text remains)
- hightlight the text of the folder
- press and hold down the keyborad button: alt
- type with the number pad: 255
- release the keyboard button: alt
- click icon to set
[footnote: one is supposed to tick in my computer the folder options to 'hide extensions for known type of file' which I have not done]
[footnote2: if you want to make a second invisible folder in the same place, it is alt+255 then alt+255 again, reads as double blanc folder]

Hi rudeskaboy164,
You could just put all of your private stuff into a zip file and password protect that file so that those buds of yours would have to give you a bud to get you to open the folder...
Just a thought Boo

Hi rudeskaboy164,
Whatever Zip program that you have should have detailed instructions on how to encrypt and password protect the files that you zip up Boo, just read the help section that came with it.
