I have a Compaq Evo N600c and I am running Ubuntu Linux as the O/S.
Starting yesterday when it boots the screen is dark. You can barely see the Ubuntu start up screen.

I am not sure how to determine what is wrong with the screen.
I don't know what to do to see if somehow it is just contrast or if the screen is just no good anymore.
Help.

Your backlight has probably gone bad in the screen. Heres some links that may help.

This is good for the basic shop prices most charge you.
