hi

I have a Emachines T4480.

My problem is, my dvd rom cannot play or open dvd files. It can for CD-R's though

Whats going on? :whistling:

Laser's probably gone. You can buy replacement DVD units from any good computer shop.

The eMachines T4480 is an old model now, about four years old so if its still the original drive, it'll be up to usual eMachines standards, most eMachines parts I've seen last no more than about three or four years at the most.

I do not have the money right now.

Any settings can i can try maybe to fix it?

If its a physical problem with the drive, its far cheaper and quicker to replace it. There's nothing inside the units that are user serviceable.
