It s a CastleRock Cable bought to use with my espon 1200s (scsi scanner) on my laptop (usb2)
The cable is recognized as an "usb mass storage periphical"
But not installed

Any idea

Looking for these?

http://www.epson.com...tegory=Products

If you are talking about the cable itself it should not be recoginized at all. Only the scanner should be recoginized. The cable is only the method for the scanner to talk to the computer.

Or perhaps you are talking about something similar to this?

What i think you don't understand is that Windows does not see USB cables. You can plug in a cable with no hardware attached to it and the computer does nothing. It does not see the cable, it only sees the hardware attached to the end.

The only thing i can think of when you say you need drivers for the cable is that what you really have is a USB card that you installed in a PCI slot. Then you would need a driver for the computer to see the card. The problem here is laptops do not have PCI slots, not even IBM laptops.

unfortunately SCSI drivers for that scanner is for Windows 98 and probably will not work with Win XP. This means your scanner is really too old to even have drivers programmed for the XP OS.

U don't understand me!

My SCSI scanner works fine with my desktop under xp pro SP2 (i have an adaptec scsi card in a pci slot)

I have a laptop too under xp pro sp2 and i want to use my scsi scanner

So i found on ebay a usb/scsi cable (castlewood)

When i plug the cable in the usb plug, xp pro sp2 try to install it and tell me in a bubble "could not perform the installation, error during installation, need driver"

U know, it is exactly the same bubble when u plug a new "usb key" on you computer. U see "new hardware detected, win xp is installing your hardware, you hardware is perfectly installed and ready for use"

I do not have this bubble "ready for use"

So there is no driver for castlewood except for drivers for a external hard drive. I did find some documentation on Adeptec usb to SCSI so you may try them to see if they work.

http://www.adaptec.c...si/USB2Xchange/

and please look at this website because they apparently supply the castlewood cables.

Perhaps these will work.
