greets fellow geeks,

i've been trying for sodding ages to network my360 to my router with no joy, i'm not a man to give up easily but i've had a fecking gutful.

I'm connecting using wireless adapter from 360 to an existing wireless network. 360 has found the network and is connected but it can't get an IP.

i'm using AOL/Netgear wireless router DG834.

My aim is to connect to xbox live thru router but i'd also like to copy/move files to and from pc.

Any useful info would go a long way to helping me keep the rest of my hair (which i want) and shutting up my missus (which i don't).

cheers all

Have you tryed reseting all the settings on you router back to the factory settings and trying again? Have you tryed assigning an IP adress to the Wireless adaptor? Also make sure you have the latest firmware for the router because sometimes it can be a problem with the router like iTunes with mine it would make my router disconnect.

This all depends on how your router is set up, if it's set up with an internet IP address (ie, designed for one PC to use only) then it will not work across two unless you have the DCHP enabled.

However I can begin helping you properly with this if you on the computer that is currently connected to the router (if there is one) do this;

Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig. After doing this you will get some results like this;

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

		Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
		IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.201
		Subnet Mask . . . . . . .  .  . . : 255.255.255.0
		Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.253

If the IP addres on that computer is 192.168.*.* DCHP is most likely enabled. If the IP address is anything else (do not post here what that is for security reasons) then it's likely DCHP is not enabled. If you follow these steps and tell me your results I can continue with a method to get your 360 working asap!
