Hi,

I've been having problems with my BT Yahoo! Browser and IE Browser lately. For one, the Bt Yahoo! Browser will not sign in so im forced to use IE browser, the IE browser cannot however load my homepage (www.home.bt.yahoo.com) or cannot access any BT sites such as (www.yahoo.com or www.bt.com) When i open IE browser and it attempts to load the Homepage it comes up with C\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll\navcancl.html at the bottom.

Hello H3lpM3Plz and welcome to the G2G HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

It appears that Norton Internet Security was once installed on this machine and has not been removed. That can create alot of problems. Here's a couple of things that you can try.

Go here: http://urlsnip.com/761926 and follow the directions for removal of the particular version that was on this machine. If that doesn't help then post a question in the XP forum here: http://www.geekstogo...2003_NT-f5.html and see what they have to say. They can help with non-malware related system issues.

Cheers.

The only norton internet security that i installed was from Bt Yahoo Online Protection, which gives free norton spyware scanner, personal firewall, and anti-virus. I un-installed all these using the Uninstall option in yahoo online protection window.

Is shdoclc.dll or navcancl.html a bad file/s?

Hi H3lpM3Plz. If the Norton products were uninstalled they did not uninstall cleanly. There are still alot of entries left in the registry.

The 2 files shdoclc.dll and navcancl.html are both Microsoft files. The shdodc.dll is a librarly files used for basic networking functions and navcancl.html is the page that displays the screen in IE when the browser cannot connect to a website.

Cheers.

I downloaded a new browser, Mozilla Firefox, it can access the sites that my other bt browser and IE cannot. (www.yahoo.com, www.bt.com etc.) any idea why this is?

Should i delelete all the norton entries using HJT Since i don't use norton anymore?

Hi H3lpM3Plz. FireFox would probably work because it doesn't tie in to all of the leftover Norton settings.

I would not suggest just removing the entries with HijackThis. You should follow the directions on Norton's site from my previous post because there are probably alot more entries that HijackThis doesn't show.

Cheers.
