For those of you that don't know what a chatelaine is - neither did I - here's what dictionary.com says:

a hooklike clasp or a chain for suspending keys, trinkets, scissors, a watch, etc., worn at the waist by women.

The small chain suggests to me that it would be put on perhaps a key ring! And if so it would be someething probably used regularly. Where it opens - are the surfaces on both sides sharp - like for cutting something?

I remember this thread, but I have no idea why it was revived, especially since the reviver didn't even add anything to the thread.

I know what that clip is, Ive known all along. No one has gotten it right yet.
