For some reason, sometimes my icons change to the internet explorer, like internet explore has hijacked them.

I can still see the original icon underneath for example: an mp3 file- the media player icon is partially visible underneath the internet explorer icon. But when i dbl click the file, it opens in the specified app, not internet explorer.

i just want to know how to prevent the ie icon appearing over the other icons.
