Hello there, this is my first ever post. Whenever I start up my computer, sometime in the near future, whether it be 2 minutes or 2 hours, my computer restarts. I ahve done some research in my event viewer and came up with the following error:

Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7000
The kl1 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

This is the only error that I can see that has shut down my computer. In command prompt I typed:
sc query WIN32_EXIT_CODE... and it came up with:

[SC] EnumQueryServicesStatus: OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

When i search my computer for a scm.exe, I cannot find one...could someone please help?
how do i rectify this?

there are no services that are stopped, there are about 48/89 that are started, and the rest are blank... as well, there a few that are disabled like clipBook, Human Interface Device Manager, Messenger, Network DDE, Network DDE DSDM, Routing and Remote Accessand Telnet.

ok, i ran sfc /scannow and i believe it ran sucessfully...is there anywhere that I can look for a smc.exe? how do I know if sfc /scannow ran successfully, it just closed...as well when i start up my computer it says that my computer drive needs to be checked for consistency, and then it always has the same message which keeps on going which is something like "deleting index $0 from file $25" and when I insert my windows cd, and run repair and then chkdsk /f, it always stalss at 25% and doesn't go past that point...what does all of this mean? i just installed windows xp professional last week
