Ok after 10 minutes on figuring out how to open the box I installed windows vista. Heres the thing. My windows.old file has all of my old programs in it, some of tem run and some of them dont. In the Program and Features program of Vista ( i think its safe to say this is just add or remove programs ) none of my old programs are listed. Is it safe to just go ahead and delete them or???

Windows.old is the previous version of Windows. I would leave it until you be sure you have everything you need (email addresses, favorites, etc). When you're sure you no longer need it, it's safe to delete.

Hmm, I'm curious if you attempted to perform an upgrade or just installed it as a clean installation. I know for sure if you do a clean installation without reformatting the hard drive, everything will get pushed to Windows.old and several of the programs will work and others won't. Above all, they won't show up in the Program & Features for you to uninstall them.
