Hello,

Looks like you are already dealing with this for a while as I see in the logs, because some older malware is present as well.
I have the feeling that you are dealing with the latest Messenger Worm, since you're not able to go to certain security related sites.
Most probably, even if you're able to download Hijackthis, it won't open.

Anyway, we'll find out afterwards..

Try next first..

* Download: HostsXpert
Unzip hoster to an own folder, eg C:\HostsXpert
Start Hoster.exe, click 'Restore Original Hosts' and click OK.

Then download Hijackthis from here and install it.
http://www.thespykil...es/HJTsetup.exe

Post the log in your next reply.

*In case Hijackthis won't run, then try to run it from Windows Safe mode.;
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

Let me try again in parts...

I hope I did this correctly...

Yes you did and you are indeed dealing with the malware I suspected..

Please perform my next steps in the right order without missing any step..

First of all, I see you have AdwareAlert installed. I do not recommend this so called spyware remover, because it has a questionnable reputation. That's why I recommend you uninstall it.

Also look if any of next programs are present in software > add/remove programs and uninstall them

YazzleActiveX By OIN

or anything similar with Oin in it.

Reboot when done! Really important!

You have Superantispyware present and running in the background. During the fixes it will give you some alerts. Please do not block them, because it's the tools that modify some settings and your Superantispyware may see this as a Hijack attempt.
That's why it may be better you temporary disable your Superantispyware.
To do this, rightclick the icon in the system tray and choose to disable/exit.

Then,

Please Download MsnVirRem.exe to your desktop from one of the following mirrors.
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click MsnVirRem.exe to run it
  • Once open, click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
<<Your computer will now be scanned for Infected Files>>
  • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
  • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
  • After the Reboot, you WILL receive file not found errors (usually 4) please acknowledge them and continue.
  • A Message should popup from MsnVirRem if not, double click the program again and it will finish
Then,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

* Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog and the log from MSNVirRem (C:\msnvirrem.log)
You may need more than one reply to post the logs.

Sorry, had to do this in 3 posts since there's a little bug on the forums now.

Hi,

On the MSNVirRem scan, there wasn't anything found.

Yes, that could be possible, because I didn't really see it running in the processes anymore either in your First Hijackthislog. Looks like your Norton maybe already deleted parts of it.

Let's deal with the leftovers now...

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.messenger...orum/portal.htm <== check this entry if you didn't set this as your startpage
F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\system32\khpfss\winlogon.exe
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\UGVubmkgUGZpdHpuZXI\command.exe (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

sc delete cmdService

Hit enter.

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox below in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run]
"winlogon"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run]
"winlogon"=-

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.
(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Then, Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Please hide your hidden files and folders afterwards again, when we are done with this thread and your problems are solved, because above instructions to set your system to show all files, unhide legit files and folders as well.
And I don't want you to delete them because they may look suspicious. To hide them again, just perform the above instructions in the opposite way.

delete next folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\khpfss

If you're not able to delete this folder, try it in Safe mode:
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

Post a new Hijackthislog in your next reply.

hello...you said to:

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

sc delete cmdService

I went to start then run and brought a windown to "open the file" and I put the information in and pushed ok. After that I did the notepad and saved to the desktop. When I double clicked the icon, the message
C:\Documents and Settings\Pfiztner\\fix.reg is not a valid Win 32 application.

HELP! Did I not do something right? :whistling:

Hello,

It could be that fileassociations are not properly set for regfiles..

Do next please.;

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox in it:

ftype regfile >> look.txt
start notepad look.txt

Save this as look.bat , choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and notepad should open.
Copy and paste the contents of it in your next reply.
(In case you are unsure how to create a bat file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Hello,

Looks like your fileassociation for regedit is indeed not properly set.
To fix this, do next:

Go to start > run and type: cmd
This should open the command prompt Window (A black Window)

In the command prompt Window type the following commands:

assoc .reg=regfile Hit enter

ftype regfile=regedit.exe "%1" Hit enter

there should be a space between assoc and .reg
there should be a space between regedit.exe and "%1"

Then close the command prompt by typing exit or just close it using the x in the corner.

I made a screenshot how it should look like:

command.gif

Then try again to doubleclick on fix.reg
Let me know if it worked now and asked to merge it.

Then perform the rest of my steps I posted earlier and post a new Hijackthislog.
