Dell demension, XP, 2.8ghz, 512mb ram, 100gb HD
In my computer/hardware/device manager/system devices/pci bridges. I think one or more of the bridges or controllers got deleted.
My pci dialup modem dials and handshakes but will not connect to with the internet
Can anyone tell me how to restore the bridge or controller or give me a link to some instructions?
Is a seperate bridge needed for each pci device? As you see this is not my strong area.

A modem that dials and handshakes but doesn't connect means either wrong username/password or an internet provider problem. If the modem was faulty it wouldn't dial at all.

Click Start, click Help and Support. In the Search window, type in modem. Should bring up a list of topics with one of them being Fix a Problem. Right pane will show you a list you can select from for modems.
